According to the records of the Walla Walla County, Washington post office, the first official post office in the area was established at Wailepta, Walla Walla County, Washington on June 2, 1858. The Walla Walla Post Office Collection, which dates from roughly 1857 to 1959, consists of a name-change certificate, a list of postmasters, receipts, correspondence, and legal documents.
