Whitman College letter project collection
Scope and Contents
This collection, which dates from 1923 to 2012, consists of letters home from students, letters from the college to students regarding their admission and tuition, a script of the compiled letters, and a recording of the reading performed by students in the theater department. The collection includes information about drug culture on the Whitman campus, local protests and riots, the overall political climate in the United States, and several letters providing first-hand experience of the sectarian conflict in Ireland.

Historical Note
The Whitman College Letter Project was a joint collaboration between the Alumni Office and the Whitman College and Northwest Archives to collect letters from students who attended Whitman in the 1960s and 1970s. During a class reunion in April, 2012, letters from the collection were collated into a script that was performed by students in the theater department. The scope of the collection has expanded to include letters from alumni from any decade.
