The Washington Pioneers Project Collection contains transcripts of interviews of early Walla Walla County settlers. There are also notes and personal histories collected during the interviews. The collection dates from 1936 to 1937.

Historical Note
The Washington Pioneers Project was created to collect stories and experiences of the pioneers of early statehood. The individuals were interviewed and their experiences were recorded to stand as a memorial. The interviews were gathered from all parts of Washington and assembled in Olympia. There was a governing and advisory board that was composed of 7 members to guide the work. This Project was part of the Washington State Department of Public Welfare Friendly Visiting Program, and began in early 1936.
