Morda Coleman Slauson papers
This collection contains the papers of Morda Coleman Slauson, playwright, author, and columnist, who came to Walla Walla from Iowa in 1922 to work as a writer for the Walla Walla Union Bulletin newspaper. Included are newspaper clippings of firsthand accounts from early settlers, and correspondence for her research on Walla Walla and Northwest history.
Arthur H. Smith Chinese Artifact Collection
The Arthur H. Smith Chinese Artifact Collection, which dates from circa 1700 to 1930, consists of hand-painted scrolls, poetry, and wall decorations. This collection, which spans from 1700 to 1930, also contains advertisements, calligraphy, and accordion codices. It also houses printed pamphlets of philosophy and ethics, and a small wooden abacus.
B. Loyal Smith Papers
The B. Loyal Smith Papers, which dates from 1949 to 1979, contains daily journals kept by B. Loyal Smith. Smith lived in Walla Walla, Washington and was the Walla Walla County engineer, a councilman, active on the Whitman College governing board and Walla Walla school district, and served as mayor of the city.
Edith Smith Papers
The Edith Smith Collection, dated from 1889 to 1953, is from the estate of Edith Smith, Whitman alumna, class of 1914. It houses photographs of Smith’s college days, her students and the 1925 Native American Congress. It also consists of whitman college memorabilia, personal papers, correspondence and a scrapbook.
Edward L. Smith Papers
The Edward L. Smith Papers contains letters between Edward L. Smith and Henrietta Baker, and a yearbook gifted to Smith by his students at the former Easton Academy. Smith was a Walla Walla reverend and a son-in-law of Dorsey Baker.
