Abstract

The Edith Moore Bendix Papers contain materials related to the overland travels to Oregon and Washington by members of the pioneer Courtney, Melton and Buttram families. These papers, which date from 1920 through 1923, consist of two handwritten accounts, by Florence Melton, of her family and their settlement in Oregon and Washington from 1862 to 1880. Accounts of the founding of Dayton and Pomeroy, Washington and reports of contact with the Nez Perce are included in these papers.
