Lawrence L. Dodd Papers
Scope and Contents
The Lawrence L. Dodd Papers consist of notes, correspondence, research materials, photographs and other documents compiled by Dodd during his tenure as curator of the Whitman College and Northwest Archives between 1969 and 2004. Included are materials used to produce the annual Archives newsletter and other publications, including The Developing Campus 1866-1993 and it's successor, The Developing Campus, 1859-2002 (pictorial histories of Whitman College campus buildings). The collection also includes a folder of correspondence regarding pranks, kidnappings, The One Sheet, and Theta Nu Epsilon.

Biographical / Historical
Lawrence L. "Larry" Dodd grew up in the Walla Walla Valley. His great-grandfather, Francis M. Lowden, Sr. settled here in 1863. The town of Lowden was named for him. Mr. Dodd graduated from Walla Walla High School and earned a B.A. at Washington State University. He was employed as a park ranger at Whitman Mission National Historic Site when he began to do family research at Penrose Memorial Library. That led to him to accept a position as Curator of Manuscripts and Special Collections there on July 1, 1969. He served in that capacity until his retirement in 2004.
