Biographical Note
Reverend Jonathan Edwards was born in Rhymney, South Wales, on June 15, 1847. He came to the United States in June of 1866, and six years later earned a license to preach in the Welsh Congregational Church in Plymouth, Pennsylvania. In 1886 he travelled to the Pacific Northwest and devoted himself to missionary work, founding 35 churches in Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, and restoring 13 more in the Spokane, Washington area. Edwards also worked as a financial agent of Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington. He died on June 28, 1929, at the age of 82.
