The Pete Reid papers contain documents pertaining to Reid’s involvement with multiple foundations and projects related to Whitman College between the years of 1948 to 2009. These projects range from the execution of Donald Sherwood’s will, aiding in the development of downtown Walla Walla, Whitman’s endowment, the management of farms, campus, and other property owned by Whitman, maintaining Phi Delta Theta and other panhellenic groups, funding Borleske Stadium, and yearly commencement ceremonies. Notably, this collection has documents regarding financial campaigns for the college, including alumni gifts and donations from groups such as Boeing and the F.W. Olin Foundation. Materials present in this collection include newspaper clippings, photographs, maps, books, memorandums, meeting minutes, commencement and funeral bulletins, and budgets and balances of the college and Sherwood Foundation.

Partial contents of this collection are restricted. Student educational records such as credentials, grade sheets, correspondence, reports, notes, applications, and all other records pertaining to past and present students are governed by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and are restricted for 75 years from the date of creation. Personnel related files of the college's faculty and staff, including search, review, promotion, reappointment, tenure, and disciplinary/grievance records, are restricted for 75 years from the date of creation. Additional restrictions may apply to other materials in this collection.
