Scope and Contents
This series contains letters, photographs, diaries, and artifacts of Edward Ernest Ruby (E.E.R.), his wife, Millie Blanche Blynn Ruby (Blanche), their children James Tate Ruby, Katharine Elizabeth Ruby (Betty) and Edward Ernest, Jr.(Bidder). Their extended family includes Blanche’s sister Katharine Harriet Blynn (Auntie), her friend Ellen Garfield Smith (Liber), and Edward’s parents James Tate Rub(e)y and Sarah Aikin (Sallie). Contained are letters of courtship, travel, and daily routine. Also included are letters regarding the death of infant son David Blynn Ruby and condolence letters at the death of E.E.R. Materials include items relating to E.E.R.’s service in World War I for the American Library Association and mention of his years spent as a professor at Whitman College.
