Scope and Contents
The William M. Nuttall Journals contain journals owned by William M. Nuttall. These journals, which date from 1904 through 1923, depict activities that present a vivid picture of life in Walla Walla, Washington during the early years of the 20th century. They reflect the many changes over the years, such as advances in farm machinery, the arrival of the automobile, telephone, indoor plumbing, flying machine, and other developments.

Biographical Note
William M. Nuttall was born December 26, 1882, in Walla Walla to William F. and Myra Marcy Nuttall. He grew up on his parents' ranch in the Cottonwood Creek area, four miles south of Walla Walla. Between 1908 and 1922 he was employed by the Tierney-Toner Co. and later with Whitehouse-Drumheller Co. Sometime after 1923 he left Walla Walla and moved to California.
