Biographical Note
Walter McCollough Kern was born in Fayetteville, Indiana, August 21, 1865 to Lewis D. and Virginia Armstrong Kern. He was educated at Southern Indiana Normal College, State University of Indiana, and was a special student of education at Columbia University. He also visited and studied the German school system in 1911. He married Carolyn Irene Evans in 1909 He served as superintendent of Walla Walla schools from 1912 until his retirement. He died in 1943.
