The Andrew J. A letter, from Hazard Stevens, provides information about the events surrounding the hanging of the Nisqually Indian, Leschi.

Biographical Note

Judge Andrew Jackson "A.J." Gillis was born in 1858. He had a career as a railroad construction engineer, a prosecuting attorney, justice of the peace and police court judge, and served as mayor of Walla Walla, Washington.
