Scope and Contents
The Ruth S. Reynolds Papers consist of photographs, newspaper clippings, and a book of letters commemorating her twenty-fifth anniversary as a librarian and the occasion of her retirement. This collection, which dates from 1887 through 1985, also contains correspondence, event, and reunion materials.

Biographical Note
Ruth S. Reynolds was born in 1901 in Washington. Her parents were Allen H. and Fannie K. Reynolds, and her brothers were William and Almos Reynolds. Allen Reynolds served as the treasurer and a board member of Whitman College. Ruth was the granddaughter of Isabella and William Kirkman, prominent figures in the development of Walla Walla, Washington. She was a prominent librarian at Penrose Library at Whitman College from 1932 to 1966. She died in March 1, 1985 in Walla Walla.
