Historical Note
El Trueco Club existed from 1940 to 2001. El Trueco met in the home of a member who served as host for the evening. Each meeting featured a program prepared by one of the members who would share information about recent interests including books, world events, and community involvement ideas. The proceedings of the club were often published in the local newspaper, as was the case with many community groups in the mid-twentieth century. The club was part of the Federated Women's Club of Washington until the decision was made to end the relationship and put those dues toward local causes. The members of El Trueco were supporters of the Walla Walla Symphony and, for many years, provided tickets for two students to attend their concerts. In 2000, El Trueco did not admit new members and subsequently faded due to attrition.
