Edith Davis papers
Scope and Contents
The collection consists of personal correspondences and letters pertaining to the Whitman College Dramatic Club, dating from 1901 and 1921-1946. There is also a handmade scrapbook about the Davis family from 1913, entitled "Mountain Memories". There is a script ofThe Ballads from George Washington (1920), and notes for a Whitman College production. There is a 1934 correspondence with Professor Hubert Beard regarding music for a Greek play, possibly The Frogs. There are notes for a 1937 production of The Double Door. There are correspondences, clippings, drafts, and papers related to a pageant on the history of Marcus Whitman and the Whitman Seminary (dated 1933-1938). Correspondence and papers related to Whitman College Dramatic Club's 1941 screening of Journey to Jerusalem. There are articles and clippings about Edith Davis's retirement in 1946. There are also notes for an unknown production and professorial notebooks for Davis's theatre and English classes (dates unknown).
