The Brodeck and Company Photographs consists of portraits and landscapes of Walla Walla County. These include photographs of residences, schools, churches, businesses and street scenes. There are also some photographs taken by Felix Fortin, a photographer also located in Walla Walla, Washington.

Biographical Information

Henry Herman Brodeck was born on 27 October 1847 in London, England. As a child, Brodeck moved with his family to the Pacific Northwest. In 1878, Brodeck moved to Walla Walla and established the Brodeck and Company photography business located at 27 E. Main Street. In the early 1880s, Brodeck travelled to Alaska to photograph the operations of the Northwest Trading Company. He died in 1886, leaving behind a wife, Amelia Brodeck, and three children. His wife continued to operate the photography business until the early 1890s.
