The Zaring Family Photographs contains photographs of Whitman College, Washington and Oregon landscapes, portraits, as well as deeds, receipts, programs, a scrapbook, and a diary documenting the events of the Zaring family business.

Biographical Note
Alvin Zaring was born in 1838 in Indiana. He married Mercy Zaring, with whom he moved to Walla Walla, Washington, worked as a farmer, and had eight children, Mary, Eli, Ella, John, Martha, Emily, Joseph, and Ray. He died in November, 1929, several years after he married his second wife Lillian Zaring.
