Biographical / Historical

The Spokane World’s Fair, Exposition 1974 was a six-month-long international exposition that focused on environmental issues as its main theme. After extensive redevelopment in Spokane’s downtown, the fair opened on May 7th, 1974 and closed on November 3rd, 1974. Nations such as the US, USSR, Japan, and South Korea attended the fair along with corporations like General Motors, General Electric, and Ford Motor. Hosting this exposition made Spokane the smallest city to ever host a world’s fair. The site of the world’s fair is now Spokane’s Riverfront Park.
