Biographical / Historical
The Intercultural Center (IC), formerly known as the Office of Multicultural Affairs, acts as a hub for managing the diverse cultural exchange on Whitman’s campus. Since its creation, the IC has organized student events, supported international students and students who identify as members of minority communities, and shared information regarding scholarship and internship opportunities for those students.
The Intercultural Center records also hold materials from Freedom Songs. Freedom Songs was founded in 2016 with a goal of highlighting racial inequity, calling for justice, and pointing out privilege and oppression. Freedom Songs has both a yearly concert and published zine containing artwork, poetry, and other pieces of writing.
