Scope and Contents

This collection contains materials from CurrentRutledge’s work on various promotional materials and campaigns at Whitman, including the Campaign for Whitman, Now is the Time, Building on Strength, and the Student Life Enhancement Project (SLEP), from circa 1975 to 2015. The collection includes correspondence, research materials, audio reels, slides and negatives, and VHS tapes.

Historical Note

CurrentRutledge was a full-service independent production company founded by David Current. David Current is a Whitman alum who graduated from the college in 1971. CurrentRutledge developed audio-visual material, programs, and promotional material for various nonprofit clients in education, the arts and humanities, and government, a majority of which were schools, libraries, and colleges.Whitman was one of CurrentRutledge’s earliest clients. In the mid-1970s Current pitched a recruitment slide-show to the Whitman Admissions Office which started off their business relationship. CurrentRutledge developed materials for the Admissions Office and Development Office at Whitman. CurrentRutledge developed original film content, interviews, still photography, and original music for promotional videos, DVDs, websites, interactive media, and presentations.
