Historical Note
The Walla Walla Coronavirus Stories Collection was created through a project based in the Whitman College and Northwest Archives, between March 2020 to May 2021, to capture a digital archive of the Walla Walla community’s experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic. Archives staff encouraged community members to reflect on their experiences of the pandemic, including their experiences at work and school, their social and family interactions, and the changes to their routines.
In partnership with the Colectivo de Arte Social of the Walla Walla Immigrant Rights Coalition and the Walla Walla Mutual Aid Network, interviews were conducted and submitted to the collection highlighting voices that are not always included in archival records of our community. The project aimed to shed light on disparities that immigrant and other marginalized communities face, while also highlighting their resiliency and their ongoing vital contributions to the Walla Walla community.
