Historical Note

The Walla Walla Chamber Music Festival was founded in 2007 by Tacoma-based musician Timothy Christie. At the time, Christie was teaching at the University of Puget Sound as well as playing for the Pacific Northwest Ballet Orchestra, the Seattle Symphony, and the Seattle Opera. While on a trip to Walla Walla with his wife, Maria, he began planning a local chamber music festival, a plan which was accepted by then Chief Executive Officer of Tourism Walla Walla, Michel Davidson. The first season was summer of 2008, and offered 26 musical events from June 9 to June 20. The festival is structured to provide five separate varieties of performance; Festival Series, Tasting Music, Sounds Like Fun!, Open Rehearsals, and Outreach.
