Arnold Studio Photographs
Scope and Contents
The Arnold Studio Photographs consists of images showing street, harvest, and snow scenes and buildings in Walla Walla, Washington, as well as scenes on the Whitman College campus. Photographs of the Whitman Centennial and Pendleton Round-up are included. The collection also contains a photograph album that was sent to Washington, D.C. to document need for the Mill Creek Project following the 1931 Walla Walla flood.

Biographical / Historical
John J. Arnold was born in 1879 in Michigan. He was married to Florence B. Chase. They operated the Arnold Studio which first opened in the late 1910s. Arnold died in 1942 and Florence continued to run the studio until it was purchased in 1944 by Boyd DeBunce.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
The provenance is unknown for the majority of the collection, but known contributors included Boyd DeBunce, Judge Ralph Phipps Edgerton, and the Walla Walla Public Library. The accession numbers associated with those contributors are retro-0256, retro-0270, and 2017-08.
Processing Information
In 2019, the folders were put in alphabetical order and rehoused for stabilization. Information about previous interventions by archivists is unknown.
