The Ada Nixon Photographs, which date from 1870 through 1928, contain photographs and postcards belonging to Ada Nixon. The photographs document travel as well as Walla Walla landmarks, and include many photographs of the extended Nixon family.

Biographical Note

Ada Margaret Nixon was born on March 13, 1882 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her family moved to Walla Walla, Washington circa 1887, where she attended school. Ada then taught in Walla Walla and Clyde, Washington from 1904 to 1906. Ada married Edward Stuart Nixon on September 19, 1906, and they moved to Idaho for a short time before returning to Walla Walla. Ada and Edward worked together in insurance and real estate until his death in 1935. She was a member of the Central Christian Church, the Shakespeare Club, the Story League, the Retired Teachers Association, and was a charter member of the Young Women's Christian Association. She died on August 6, 1979.
