Carl Church Papers
Scope and Contents
The Carl Church Papers, which dates from 1930 to 1965, contains the papers of Carl Church. The materials include original drawings and a master sheet of the Oregon State seal, as well as original “Oregon in Stone” drawings. Also included are maps of Montana, Oregon, and Washington, correspondence and newspaper clippings, photographs and pamphlets.

Biographical Note
Carl Corbly Church was born in 1905 in Washington. He lived his adult life in Portland, Oregon with his wife, Elizabeth Church. Carl Church created the original drawings of the Oregon State seal and the great seal of Idaho. He died in February, 1978.
