Scope and Contents
The United States Department of the Interior, Bonneville Power Administration Records consists of the plan and profile record book detailing the location and placement of power lines installed throughout the Walla Walla-Lewiston region in 1941. These records, which date from 1940 through 1941, also contain accompanying construction data record book including a structure list by section, structure and drilling drawings, notes, and strip maps.

Historical Note
In 1937, the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) was created through the passage of the Bonneville Power Act to encourage widespread use of electricity by marketing the power from the newly built federal dams in the Columbia River basin. By 1941 BPA had 1,176 miles of transmission line in service. Completion of this program made it possible for the administration to supply electricity to communities throughout Washington and Oregon.
