Biographical Note
William H. Harbold was born in Erie Pennsylvania in 1921 and died in 2008. He received his PhD from Harvard University. He later became an associate professor at University of Washington where he taught for 20 years. In 1969 he accepted a position as a political science professor at Whitman College which he held until 1982. He married Mary Jo Harbold, a librarian, in 1951. The two had a daughter named Ellen.
