The Pettyjohn Family Papers contain family portraits and letters. These papers, which date circa 1850 through 1950, also consists of photographs depicting local buildings and houses, and the Walla Walla centennial celebration.

Biographical Note
The Pettyjohn family were early settlers in the Walla Walla area. Jonathan Pettyjohn was born in Ohio on January 13, 1827, and later moved west with his family. He moved to Walla Walla county in 1859, and settled in Touchet valley. Sherman Pettyjohn was born to Jonathan and Hannah Pettyjohn on November 10, 1865 in Walla Walla county. Sherman’s daughter, Margaret Pettyjohn, was born in Walla Walla on June 12, 1899 and died in July 1978.
