The Pringle Family Collection contains the Oregon Trail diary written by Virgil K. Pringle, land donation certificates, and homestead certificates. This collection, which dates from 1853 through 1880, also contains deed records of the Pringle family.

Biographical Note
Virgil K. Pringle was born in July 1804 in Harrington, Connecticut. He eventually moved to Missouri, where he married Pherne Brown. They had four children, O.M., Alfred, Cerilla, and Emma. Their first child, O.M., was born in 1832. In 1853, Virgil and his family began traveling to Oregon on the Oregon Trail. They settled in Salem, Oregon, where he lived until his death in 1887.
