Biographical Note
Arthur Shinbo was born on December 20, 1924, in Walla Walla, Washington. In 1943 he enlisted in the Army, where he joined the 442 Regimental Combat Team. After completing basic training he was selected to become a member of the Military Intelligence Service, which was responsible for intercepting and translating battlefield messages. After his military service Arthur attended the Art Center in Los Angeles. After his schooling at the Art Center he became an illustrator and graphic designer for the Bunker-Ramo Corporation. He married Alice Hamada, with whom he had a daughter, Sharon. Upon retirement Arthur Shinbo moved back to Walla Walla, where he lived until his death on November 3, 2015.
