Scope and Contents
The Grant S. Bond Scrapbook, which dates from roughly 1889 to 1910, consists of newspaper clippings, pages from books, electoral ballots, and postcards. Many of the newspaper clippings and ballots have to do with Bond and his efforts to be elected as Walla Walla, Washington county superintendent.

Biographical Note
Grant S. Bond was born in West Virginia in 1869. He graduated from the state normal school at Fairmount, Pennsylvania in 1888, subsequently travelling to Walla Walla, Washington, where he taught in country schools for a few years. Eventually, he became both an instructor and a student at Whitman College in Walla Walla, completing coursework when he wasn’t teaching students, and graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science. Bond was the principal of Sharpstein Elementary for a number of years, before successfully running for the office of Walla Walla county superintendent. He died on January 29, 1955.
