Tomlinson Family Papers
Scope and Contents
The Tomlinson Family Papers, which date from 1852 to 1896, contains nine ledgers in which the Tomlinsons logged their records. Each ledger deals with different topics, ranging from business transactions, to mill operations, to day-to-day activities.

Biographical Note
John J. and Margaret Elida House Tomlinson moved to Gallatin Gateway, Montana in March of 1868. They bought land and opened a lath and shingle mill, which they operated until July 1874. In 1874, they sold the lath and shingle mill and opened Valley Flouring Mill, which ran until 1879 when it was sold.
