The John Haigh Photograph contains negatives and photographs taken by John Haigh on the campus of Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, between 1916 and 1938. The negatives capture Whitman students, staff and faculty, as well as scenes around campus and Walla Walla.

Biographical Note
John Haigh was born August 18, 1918 in Walla Walla, Washington. John's father, Dr. Frank Haigh, was a chemistry professor at Whitman College. John attended Whitman and graduated in 1940 with a degree in English. John was interested in journalism from a young age, publishing a gazette with his friends as a child and working for the Whitman College newspaper The Pioneer. After graduation, John worked for the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin for a number of years, and proceeded to write for a number of other newspapers in the Pacific Northwest. Haigh wrote for the Seattle Times for 27 years before his retirement in 1983. Following his retirement, he served as the editor for Whitman's Alumni Newsletter for more than a decade. He died January 13, 2011.
