Biographical Note
Valentine Hoffman was born in Walla Walla, Washington on May 5, 1893. He attended Whitman College from 1913 to 1914 before graduating from the University of Washington. Hoffman worked for the Boeing Company, but dedicated much of his retired life to researching the Mullan Trail and the families who traveled it. He died in 1967.
