Scope and Contents

The William J. Kennell Scrapbook, which dates from 1899 to 1906, consists of a scrapbook containing newspaper clippings, event pamphlets, ribbons, notes, invitations, photographs, and other ephemera. Additionally, the scrapbook contains mailing receipts for the student newspaper, the Whitman College Pioneer, from October 4, to November 30, 1902, invoices from the Union Printing and Publishing Company from November 2, 1901 to December 1, 1902, and letterhead for the Whitman College Pioneer

Biographical Note

William J. Kennell, born in Colfax, Washington circa 1880, graduated from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington in 1903. During his time at Whitman, he played football, was on the debate team, and worked for the school newspaper. After graduating, he worked as an accountant in San Francisco, California. Kennell died circa 1960.
