The George B. Marquis papers house the personal papers of George B. Marquis. This collection, which dates from 1863 to 1967, consists of books by Marquis and others, photographs of family members, manuscripts, published articles, a portrait, assorted speeches, correspondence, publications, poetry, a diploma, and newspaper clippings.

Biographical Note
George Bruce Marquis was born on July 6, 1879. He attended Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington from 1901 to 1905. He worked as the chief financial officer for Whitman until his retirement in 1949. He was a prolific writer, known for his adventure tales of the West. He died on February 20, 1955, at the age of 75.
