Biographical Note
Janette Lillian Moses was born on September 1, 1919, in Des Moines, Washington. After spending much of her childhood riding steamships to visit her father in Alaska, she entered Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington in 1936. She earned her teaching degree from the University of Oregon in Eugene, Oregon and Portland State University in Portland, Oregon, proceeding to teach high school English in Hillsboro, Oregon. After her husband’s death in 2000, she married a high school friend and moved to Walla Walla, Washington, where she lived until her death on February 10, 2014, at the age of 94.
