Scope and Contents
The Katsel Family Photographs houses personal and family dry glass plate negatives taken mainly by August Sornson in the early 20th century, which were later accumulated by the Katsel family. This collection documents family life and southeast Washington in the early 1900s, especially agrarian and natural scenes.

Biographical Note
August Sornson, born in Idaho on September 13, 1864, was a photographer with his brother Isaac. He took photographs across the Pacific Northwest, including some in the areas surrounding Dixie and Walla Walla, Washington.
