The Whitman College collection of local periodicals includes publications regarding local interests such as the environment, agriculture, music, arts, automobiles, local news, and newsletters of local clubs, groups, and organizations in the Walla Walla Valley and the Inland Pacific Northwest region, dating from 1868 to 2006. Researchers interested in agriculture may be particularly interested in the Walla Walla County Cooperative Extension Service’s Horse Newsletter (1956 to 1981), Animal Tales: Livestock News and Tips (1969 to 1975), and Out Behind the Barn (1983-1984). Those interested in the environment may be particularly interested in the Northwest Conservation League’s The Northwest Conservationist, the Inter-Mountain Alpine Club’s The Yodeler and the Walla Walla County Conservation District’s Conservation Update, 1978 to 1998). Walla Walla publications with significant date ranges include Walla Walla School District’s Vistas from January 1966 to March 1971, The Allied Arts Council of the Walla Walla Valley’s The Arts in Walla Walla from September 1974 to August 1986, and Walla Walla Symphony’s News of Notes from October 1991 to February 2001.
