Conditions Governing Access

Records of the Office of the Provost and Dean of the Faculty are closed for 20 years from the date of creation. Access to files spanning multiple years will be opened to researchers based on the date of the most recent materials. Student educational records such as credentials, grade sheets, correspondence, reports, notes, applications, and all other records pertaining to past and present students are governed by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and are restricted for 75 years from the date of creation. Personnel related files of the college's faculty and staff, including search, review, promotion, reappointment, tenure, and disciplinary/grievance records, are restricted for 75 years from the date of creation. Additional restrictions may apply to other materials in this collection.

Historical Note

The Policy Committee, formed in 1966, was responsible for proposing all non-curricular changes and policy development to the Faculty for discussion and votes. This committee regularly reported to the Academic Council and the general Faculty. Its membership included three teaching members of the Faculty (elected by the Faculty), and the Dean of the Faculty acted ex-officio. As of the 2011 Faculty Code, the Policy Committee was no longer an organizational body of faculty governance.
